The ESP warning light came on, and the car prompted out inoperative See Owner's Manual. I also had a problem whereby there was a knocking sound whenever I drove over a bump.

I sent the car in on Friday 28th October 2011, and was informed that the following items were found when the diagnostic machine was plugged in:

1. Steering Angle Sensor Unit
2. Front torsion bar bushing cracked.
3. Compressor vacuum hose leak

At first, the bill amounted to RM7200, but after speaking to the service manager (Bala), the amount was reduced to RM6600. The car was released to me on Monday, 31st October 2011. This wasn't so much an issue for as I drove the car for one day and all was well.

On Tuesday, 1st Nov 2011, the same ESP warning light prompted out again. The car was brought back to Cycle And Carriage PJ on Wednesday morning, and after the same diagnostic test, the brand new Steering Angle Sensor unit was found to be faulty again!

Since the unit was under warranty, it was replaced, and the car was released back to me at 4.55pm. The moment I drove the car out of the centre, I was faced with yet another problem whereby the steering was angled wrongly to the left even though the car was heading straight ahead. The car was brought back into C&C immediately and the steering was repositioned.

MY HONEST ADVICE TO ALL MERCEDES BENZ CAR OWNERS IS TO AVOID USING CYCLE AND CARRIAGE PJ AS YOUR SERVICE CENTRE. I HAVE HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS PLACE EVER SINCE I SERVICED MY CAR HERE AND THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THE CAR IS NOT MADE TO LAST, REPAIRED WITH LOUSY COMPONENTS, AND LOUSY WORKMANSHIP. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

This is a list of other lousy incidences that I have experienced at Cycle And Carriage PJ before:

1. Warranty request to adjust headlights beam height since the car was delivered to me with wrongly adjusted beam height.
2. Warranty repair of fog lamps which had water condensation on the inside.
3. Warranty replacement of broken seat control unit.
4. Car ECU reset after servicing as the car reverted to emergency mode (ENGINE WARNING LIGHT, CAR MAX SPEED 40KMH) after car delivered back to me after a normal service!!!
5. Front camber bolts installation as camber had drifted (29000km only, yet requires camber bolts!)
6. Car drifting to the left after wheel alignment done. Had to resend back to Cycle And Carriage.

My Service Assistants were Vicky, Ben, and another gentleman who has since resigned. I bought the car from Sales Assistant Albert.

Again, do not go to Cycle And Carriage PJ. I have decided to not use their facilities any further.

UNIFI Why you so problem!

I had my unifi done recently. Understand that you are playing songs to help that crowd to engage emotionally and spiritually with God. This means that a bad performance will not achieve that. Here's a few tips to address the many incidents that happen during a normal performance.

Engage with the band before engaging with the crowd

Lead. Use eye contact or established signals with the musicians. Three piece bands do so much better due to the quality of the communication. A bigger band requires much more planning and agreements between musicians to achieve a quality performance.

When the song is played, not nice to talk during the song. Breaks concentration. Nobody can engage with the song emotionally when you are gabbing away.

Speaking once in transition is good enough. Stick to a few seconds of exhortation, more than that will risk a mood dip.

When the song ends, end it musically confident. A definite end. Wrong notes are the most audible at this point. Decide on chords before the performance. There is only so many times you can wing it by saying "in faith".

Transition without dead sound or awkward silence. Only if the situation calls for it, otherwise do not. Any eyes that were closed in spiritual alignment will begin to open in curiosity.

Begin the new song confidently, for goodness sake! Weak vocals or instrument will dull the song. A vocal squeek that builds into a roar is highly regarded as odd. Or bad.

When an instrument is playing the lead, don't clash with a verbal conversation. Nobody can hear the gibberish. Yeah, really. GwannnggPRAISEOURGODANDSTARTYOURPRIASEANDDONPTjengjengjengRAISEYOURHANDSANDGIVRTTULTIMATEPRAISEbwuanhbwuangsgywkpfhrhejamam...etc

See how gibberish it is?

Do not close your eyes if you are leading the song. If the holy spirit is leading, He needs your eyes to see what's happening!

Nuff said.

The speed and tonal range of the songs can be the definite theme of the service. Choose wisely and with assistance from senior experienced leaders. A song too fast or too high in tone or vice versa can murder the performance.

Pastor is the Ultimate worship leader. There is no co-leading. Follow what he says, signals or requests. Do not at any time close your eyes so that you can play to Pastors leading.

Any instrument mishap is not the end of the service. Kill other instruments by playing with fewer instruments to have enough time for repair. Pick up the song in due time.

No matter what anyone says, mistakes are audible. They are heard. Too bad, deal with it later, and polish up the performance later. End the performance with a quick round up.

Learning and knowing the song by heart is excellent. Quite good. Having the sheets as reference is good.

If you are a worship leader, knowing an instrument to convey the song is fantastic. If not, make sure the song is conveyed PROPERLY and the expectation defined. Musicians are emotional people and reacting to failed expectations is prelude to an argument.

State of Things Are

Have u read Malaysia Today yet?

Have u read of the allegation about Samy Velu?

Have u read about the allegation of why Chua Soi Lek was sacked?

Have u read about how Xavier Jayakumar demands Hishamuddin to step down?

Have u read about how The Star reports that Hishamuddin wants the Cow Head Carriers (CHC, kinda catchy) to to be brought to justice?

Interesting eh?

h1n1, baby, wife, innova....

I am getting better.

Actually, I am very much better. I've just spent the last 4 days cooped up at home, coughing and hacking and fevering away. I was convinced that I had h1n1, but my health didn't deteriorate that badly, and today, SATURDAY, i am ok. It was no fun sleeping and dozing in bed, while trying to find a good position to sleep in (I HAVE GOT TO GET A NEW PILLOW!) and the worst part was thinking if Hannah would get what I got.

She did, I think, cos she got sick too. But thank God (and I do mean You, God) that she is ok this evening. Her temp was on the high side (about 38.6 degrees at one point) but she's down to 37. We're watching her. Wife got the bug too, sore throat and coughing, but her throat may have something cos its itching and its really bugging her. SJMC, here we come! Get ready for my wife cos I'm bringing her in.

I destroyed my INnova tires last week. Totally ripped both tires on the left side as I was taking a turn, promptly shreded the side walls. My fault. My own stupid fault. Called the tire shop, and they came with an extra tire, which was wrong. Had to wait for the guy to bring one of the bad tires to their shop to repair and come back again to finally get BOTH tires up. Got a burger while waiting.... and the Pakcik wasn't fully convinced that I wasn't muslim, simply cos I chose to wear a baju melayu that day. Hey, i love baju melayus, cooling and comfortable. Don't need to assume I'm muslim cos of it. Comon..... anyhow, the Pak and Makcik were quite impressed with me. Made me cheer up a lil.... not for long though cos after I fixed the innova, came the bill.

600 bucks.

*sigh* there goes my new Nokia E66 that I was hoping to buy. celaka.

Last week, attended ECFD on Sunday after the Awning company installed the awning. Heard that Ryan wasn't feeling well, had a fever. Hope things turned out OK guys! Our prayers are with you! Let me know how things turned out yah.

And about the awning company. They were recommended by a friend, and let me tell you how disappointed I am with them. First of all, they FORGOT the installation date and came one week later, then they installed faulty awnings, and wanted to escape the blame, and destroyed the flooring at the same time. Who are they? They are PIONEER IRON TRADING. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. CALL ME, I WILL RECOMMEND A BETTER PERSON. First of all, the installation crew came at 11.30am, dropped off the awnings and went for lunch until 1pm. Then, they dragged a normal 2 day job into a potential 5 day job (bcos they now have to bring in NEW AWNINGS to replaced the screwed up ones they installed).

Of course, money is power, and they need to finish the job before I pay. Hey, Stephen... here's a hint.... change the installers, i don't like that guy who keeps disappearing between jobs. We caught that guy sleeping and having a jolly time strolling while the other three dudes were working their butts off doing his share of the work.

Ahwell, one can never expect perfection until one's expectation is significantly imperfected.

I have been up awake throughout the whole night. I found a Myvi that I like. Will call the guy later and find out how much he wants for it. Let's see if I can get it below $40k. Hee hee.

How Malaysians treat Malaysians

Recent developments in Malaysia show that PKR and UMNO are at logger heads. No big deal. Its been like that since time immemorial.
The similarities are there too. One declares itself better than the other and convinces the rakyat to believe them. The other retorts and come up with something to say 'nay!' The cycle repeats itself, and its been like that for 40 years.

That sucks.

However, what makes the difference between this fighting is that PKR and UMNO are fighting over leadership of Malaysia, which is basically about Power. This is a stark contrast to how the rakyat fight with each other. I se the word fight, cos its shorter than the word 'disagree', and my fingers find it easier to type the word 'fight'.

This is how the rich and powderful Malaysians treat each other...

The rakyet 'fights' with each other over car accidents, dirty roads, rubbish thrown over each other's lawns, accidentally bumping into each other in the mall, jumping queues, flinging rubbish or dirty water into each other's face, pets encroaching into the neighbors lawn to poop, car parking, letterbox rubbish, getting kids into school, getting kids to stay in school, finding a seat at a hawker centre, ordering food, paying bills at the post office.....

No fights regarding power, just daily basic amenities. We fight over the stuff that we do everyday. While a portion of people, who have bungalows and garages of cars, and companies under their datukship titles, are fighting with each other to stay rich, the rest of us are 'fighting' to feed ourselves and our families. Every 4 years, the portion of rich greedy people will have to find the 'support' of the rakyat through a process of voting, The promises begin, and the emotional war cries are made, but after that short time, things go back to what they were, with the rich fighting the rich, and the so-called-poor fighting themselves. This is how the everyday blue collar Malaysians deal with each other...

Malaysians like to call themselves courteous and kind, but we aren't, actually. We like to call ourselves knowledgeable and talented, but we're not. We like to call ourselves enterprising and hardworking, but that's just a shadow of a distant time. In truth, we're a bunch of lazy incompetent idiots, who are a laughing stock of the South East Asean countries. Singapore looks at us and sneers (even the Malaysians who work in Singapore do it!), Indonesia giggles because without them, we won't have any labor do do anything! Bangladesh and Myanmar just found out about this, and give them a couple of days and they'll probably be chuckling too. The services industry in Malaysia is ironically manned by foreigners, and this gives visitors and tourists the impression that we are short handed, untalented, and physically incapable of doing everyday routine work.

At the same time, Mat Rempits on motorcycles go about robbing people of their money and phones because they say they don't have 'MoneY' or work to do!. What the heck??!

So, who wants to improve Malaysia? For one thing, its going to take a long time for that to happen. No Malay boy I know would degrade themselves to picking up rubbish or mopping canteen floors, or sweeping streets because it would make them look 'poor' in front of their friends or relatives. This is the Malaysian way right, to be technically superior! How can you look technically superior sweeping floors? Better to stay home and do nothing rather than sweeping floors right? Hah!

Indian boys feel the exact same way, but they are different. They are willing to put their emotions aside just so that they can earn a respectful living, and please their families by putting food on the table. Many Indian boys I know do this. Yes, they talk big, and swagger, but they aren't afraid to work.

Chinese boys who find themselves short on cash only just need to head over to the local DVD shop and help their brothers sell their wares. Hence, DVD DVD!! Or sell beer at the kopitiam. Or fix motorcycles, or cars, or make money being electricians or air conditioner repairmen. Or sell chicken rice or char koay teow at the local hawker centre.

"Screw you!" they say, as they make you pay $8 for a single DVD that costs $2 to make and sell.

"Kiss my Arse" as they install the Astro unit in your living room.

"You suck!" they mutter as they deliver the third plate of noodles at your table in the cafe you are at.

I digress. I was thinking about how Malaysians shouldn't really be called Malaysians. We should come up with a new name for ourselves, something that will reflect the TRUE nature of our beliefs and origins. We should politically declare to the world how selfish and useless we really are (based on majority of course!) and that the only reason we come to existence is because a huge bunch of us choose to sit down and relax while another chooses to make money at the expense of the lazy ones.

Hmm, Moneysians is nice. Or how about Lazicia. Or omit the Y in Malaysia so that we truly declare our love for sitting on our butts all day and typing meaningless blogs. Malasia.

The Malaka Barisan National UMNO MP, made a comment saying that Chinese should go back to China and Indians should go back to India. He said this because some political party was 'betraying' UMNO and making some fuss (as they all do!) Bearing this in mind, should the Malays go back to Indonesia (Bugis, Jawa?).

Oh noooo, cannot.... Malays are from Malaysia he says. Malays have rights.

Screw you dude, I'm from Malaysia and I have every right as deserved in this country. Telling me that just because my forefathers are from China doesn't mean a thing, because then that rule should apply to ALL Malaysians, and not just 'some' Malaysians.

You know what sucks? What sucks is having some unemployed dude choosing crime to earn a living, because he can't imagine himself sweeping floors. What sucks is seeing Mat Rempits terrorizing communities while Indonesians and Bangladeshis working their asses off building government buildings and toll booths. What sucks is seeing Chinese boys earning from International Companies because the local companies are obligated to employ shadow Malays who don't know how to run companies and rely on proxy Chinese boys to do it.

Malasia needs a big kick in the rump. Start working eagerly. Enough with the spoon feeding already.

I am Malaysian. WTH?

Thing is, I was trying to make heads and tails about it. What made this elderly man get so worked up, and so threatened by me. Was it because I was Chinese? I did a wiki search, and I found out a few things:

1) Chinese are generally regarded as freaking rich industrialists who have the means and power to overcome any condition no matter how destitute they are to grow to be a considerable authority in the financial and economic industry.

2) Other races hate the chinese because of that.

An article in wiki regarded Sinophobia (the fear of Chinese people, their culture and origins) explains that all wonderfully, even going so far as to give examples like the Malaysian May 13 1969 incident, and the Indonesian Jakarta Riot 1998.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jakarta_Riots_of_May_1998
Bottomline, as long as I'm Chinese, other races will fear me. Why? Because they will. Malaysia is no exception, especially with the May 13 incident. Indicently, 2009 will be the 40th Anniversary of that catastrophe (I'm considering leaving the country during that time, seriously).

Why has it become so? Why is there fear everywhere we turn? Is it biblical? Well, there was a consdirable amount of fear in the bible (from the fear of God to the fear of man) and all that just explains and details the very nature of man that when we are threatened, we will respond (positively or otherwise)

So, how will I deal with this? I will continue to live my life without compromise, BUT I will always be looking around with eyes at the back of my head to ensure that my life and my family is protected.

To the extremists out there, note this. Do to others what you want others to do unto you. What goes around, comes around.

Before, I could say I was proud to be Malaysian. Ask me again when you see me, and I'll tell you what my new answer is.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://adrian-lee.blogspot.com/2009/03/i-am-malaysian-but-i-am-also-chinese.html' title='I am Malaysian. He kicked the door of her car because there was contact while she was passing him. Oh, he was stationary some more and waved her to pass, but her car still nudged his bike and it fell. He went ballistic and gave a kung fu kick on the door. Since I was driving right next to her, I came out to correct him.

Within MINUTES, he starts to get racist on me by telling me to back to my native country. How odd, cos I'm Malaysian. Just not Malay. How odd.

So, he gets all angry, and starts to threaten me, my family and all that. All I take with a pinch of salt. But just for the record, his motorcycle number is MBA 2615. Subramaniam that doubling the levy on foreign workers will discourage their employment and will result in increased salaries for the locals is immature.

I have owned a restaurant for more than 20 years and during this period I have hired both Malaysian and Indonesian staff. The working conditions are the same for both nationalities and it does not matter what position they are in - manager, kitchen staff or waiters.

When we first opened for business, we hired locals. In the beginning, there were not much of a problem but when business began to pick up, my cook began to talk about leaving. It is her way of wanting to renegotiate her pay.

I put up with the "blackmailing" by ignoring it, but by the third time, I paid her her salary and showed her the door. That brought a temporary end to such threats from the others when they realised that I was not going to be held to ransom.

Then, with the influx of Indonesians, we hired them to work alongside with the locals. However, the Indonesians were hard working and had better attitude towards work.

But, when the Government began to make it harder to hire Indonesians, we had no choice but to look to local labour again. It was the mid-1990s boom and we needed the staff.

We found the locals arriving late for work and leaving early – sometimes before even the close of business, leaving the clean-up to be done by the foreign workers.

The locals would come to work unkempt and they sat around smoking cigarettes despite the "no smoking" sign in the restaurant.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian workers would ensure business goes on in the restaurant.

The locals refused to learn anything new because they thought they knew better. They were not happy at being told what to do by a woman - even if she was the manager.

They showed their displeasure by making the food inedible - adding too much salt or chilli.

Local staff are simply unreliable. Perhaps what is most disturbing is their health. The Indonesian workers have to pass a medical examination before they get a work visa. Locals do not.

Just to make sure, we would ask all new foreign workers to go for another medical test before they commenced work at the restaurant. However, this backfired. If he or she failed the test and cannot be hired, we still had to pay the bill which came to a few hundred ringgit.

To be fair, not every local we have hired was a nightmare. However, the dreadful ones we have hired far outnumbered the good ones.

If Dr Subramaniam thinks that raising the levy on foreign workers will lead to more locals being hired in the restauraunt business, he is sorely mistaken. They have poor work ethics and are not worth the trouble. If I can't afford the levy, I would rather close my business than to be held ransom by local workers.

RESTAURANT OWNER,
Petaling Jaya.

Who said MUSLIMS cannot hold BEER Cans?

This article came out in the Malaysian local publication, 'THE STAR", today.

It carries the header 'UNSUSPECTING KLANG VALLEY PUB OWNERS BEING DUPED BY UNSCRUPULOUS GROUPS", and shows Customs Deputy Director-General (Prevention) Datuk Mardina Alwi and Selangor Customs Director Datuk Roslan Yusof holding beer cans.

I have faced and encountered numerous occasions whereby some of our Muslim folks absolutely REFUSE to hold BEER, WINE, ALCOPOP cans, until they wear gloves or line their hands with a plastic bag etc..

So, Muslims can hold beer cans! While no church at present is my home base, I have visited a number, searching for the right place to laymy Bible.

I have been to Edge Church International a few times. I found the people very warm and hospitable, very inclusive. With them I have no problem.

However, I think something is on the nose within the Assemblies of God movement, or the Australian Christian Churches, as they are now known.

While there were quiet dissenters before this scandal, now many in the church are finding their voice.

Reverend Philip Powell left Paradise Community Church in 1992, quitting his post as secretary-generalof the AOG because hewas so disenchanted with what he was seeing in the movement.

"It was very, very political," said the pastor, who now leads a Brisbane non-denominational church.

"It's become like a corporation, like a business operation."

He said the downfall of Michael Guglielmucci was a symptom of the denomination heading in the wrong spiritual direction.

"When the church becomes money-driven or music-driven, it's on the wrong track – they're excellent servants but poor masters," Mr Powell said.

"Many of the people wake up too late and realise they've . . . lost the significance of what the Gospel is all about."

In my view, serious questions must be raised about the way people are promoted to positions of authority in the church.

Family dynasties dominate the leadership of Australia's biggest – and richest – churches.

Michael Guglielmucci is the son of Edge Church International founder Danny Guglielmucci.

Michael was a pastor at Russell Evans' church in Melbourne – Russell himself is the son of AOG legend Andrew Evans.

Brian Houston, who runs Australia's biggest church, Hillsong in Sydney, is the son of Frank Houston, another preacher who suffered a fall from grace.

Brian's son Joel helps run the church's music department, including the prolifically profitable music-selling arm – which creates the albums that often top the ARIA charts. It seems wrong some pastors are getting around in expensive cars and expensive suits, holidaying in their beach homes and riding their jet skis and Harleys.

When did that become part of the deal with answering God's calling?

The "love offerings" – an offering taken up for a guest preacher – seem to have become a "scratch my back I'll scratch yours" exchange between powerful pastors, knowing a weekend visit to another church can net upwards of $10,000.

In my opinion, the rise of the celebrity pastor is something that must be addressed. Somehow the church has embraced all that is destructive about the world of celebrity.

The money, the fame – ultimately it has a tendency to corrupt. Why should we expect those in Christian circles to be any different?

Many AOG churches have become so obsessed with presenting a picture-perfect world, they have forgotten they are meant to be the one place where it is OK not to have it all together – to have problems, to sin, to have doubts. Churches are hospitals for the soul.

But instead, those who do not fit the cookie-cutter vision of a "successful Christian" have been cast aside, or even pushed out the door.

Services have become lavish displays these days – rock music-style praise, flashy video presentations – young, pretty-looking vocalists performing with their hands raised dutifully (yes, all carbon copies of Matt Corby).

Speaking in tongues, something which had previously confused and dismayed some visitors, has been banished.

Nothing about church these days is controversial, it is all about projecting success – "become a Christian and you too could have a life as perfect as mine".

I wonder whether this vision of unobtainable perfection actually now turns people away.

The sick in body and the sick in spirit are seldom prayed for out the front as they were in years gone by. This is now done during weekday meetings in believers' houses – away from potential visitors.

Many AOG churches do fantastic things for their community, as do churches of all denominations. There is good in every church.

I just think they have been striving too hard for success.

In the wake of this sorry affair with Michael Guglielmucci, questions must be asked and churchgoers should not be content with what the all-powerful pastors tell them from the pulpit.

My hope is this horrendous breach of trust will not damage the faith of believers – we are all human, but we need to ensure we are not blinded by faith.

Fall from Grace : Michael Guglielmucci

I was doing a follow up on Michael Guglielmucci's fall from grace, and I found out that he's been addicted to PORN for 16 years. He's come out with everything but now we've got the consequences of it all.

"We have to accept it. We're hoping to share with our congregation how it all started and how it got where it is.

"We understand people's anger, we understand their questioning.

"There's so many questions.

"An addiction like this is not going to be fixed overnight. You can't have a 16-year problem and fix it in a week."

Mr Guglielmucci said his son was undergoing psychiatric assessment with Adelaide doctors.

"They have said to me that he is very ill. They are assessing where reality stopped and fantasy kicked in and what's caused all this," he said.

"The doctor believes that at times Michael was totally convinced that he had this sickness."

Mr Guglielmucci said his son had a long history of "mystery illnesses", starting in childhood.

"When he was about 12 he did vomit all the time, he'd get really really sick," he said.

"He was in the Adelaide Children's Hospital for seven weeks at one stage; he didn't eat and we thought we were going to lose him.

"They took out his appendix, thinking that it might be that, but they realised that it wasn't.

"They gave us the option of putting him in a psychiatric ward to see if there was something psychological but we felt uncomfortable with that at the time.

"We signed him out from hospital and then he would go a few months and then he would get sick again.

"We'd always take him to hospital; we'd always do the proper thing but they couldn't get to the bottom of it until now."

Mr Guglielmucci said he and his wife were in "absolute shock" to discover their son was not terminally ill.

"We have watched our son go through what we thought was cancer," he said.

"My wife and I, over the past two years, have watched him vomit in buckets, having nosebleeds, and even his hair fell out in clumps at one stage.

"Every time we saw him, we saw symptoms. He stayed with us for a while where we had to put a special air-conditioner in one of the rooms because he would heat up so much in the middle of winter.

"He had this cold air-conditioner blowing on him to try to keep the heat down. As a professional minister I've stood in front of my congregation and cried and said to pray for my son.

"I've travelled the world asking people to pray for him. Can you imagine what a horrible thing it would be if I was playing a game?

"To be honest, I ask myself as a father, 'What did I miss, what did I not do? What could I have done better?' "

Mr Guglielmucci said Michael's wife was "getting really good counselling".

"She's not made any decision at this point," he said.

"It's happened so quickly. There's so many questions."

Unappreciated...

I just feel so unappreciated these days.

No doubt, my family is still rock solid, but when it comes to my friends from before, it has changed.

Different people have taken different paths in their lives, and that has changed the relationship between them and I. We are asking our church to pray for the Guglielmucci family during this difficult time."

The Advertiser was told last night Mr Guglielmucci may release a statement on the situation.

The Australian Christian Church said Mr Guglielmucci's credentials immediately were suspended once he told the national executive that his cancer claims were "untrue".

"The national executive is taking this matter very seriously and is awaiting the results of medical tests before determining the full extent of the discipline that will be imposed upon him," vice president Alun Davies said.

"We are very concerned for the many people who have been or will be hurt by Michael's actions.
"We encourage all of our churches to pray for all those affected.

Demand and Supply

Demand and Supply

A man eats two eggs each morning for breakfast. When he goes to the mini-market he pays Rm3.50 a dozen. Since a dozen eggs won't last a week he normally buys two dozens at a time. One day while buying eggs he notices that the price has risen to Rm3.72. The next time he buys groceries, eggs are RM3.76 a dozen. When asked to explain the price of eggs the store owner says, "The price has gone up and I have to raise my price accordingly".

This store buys 100 dozen eggs a day. He checked around for a better price and all the distributors have raised their prices.

The distributors have begun to buy from the huge egg farms. The small egg farms have been driven out of business.

The huge egg farms sell 100,000 dozen eggs a day to distributors. With no competition, they can set the price as they see fit. The distributors then have to raise their prices to the mini-markets.

And on and on and on. As the man kept buying eggs the price kept going up. He saw the big egg trucks delivering 100 dozen eggs each day. Nothing changed there.

He checked out the huge egg farms and found they were selling 100,000 dozen eggs to the distributors daily. Nothing had changed but the price of eggs.

Then week before Hari Raya the price of eggs shot up to RMRM4.00 a dozen. Again he asked the grocery owner why and was told, "Cakes and baking for the holiday".

The huge egg farmers know there will be a lot of baking going on and more eggs will be used. Hence, the price of eggs goes up.

Expect the same thing at Chinese New Year and other times when family cooking, baking, etc. happen.

This pattern continues until the price of eggs is RM8.00 a dozen. The man says," There must be something we can do about the price of eggs".

He starts talking to all the people in his town and they decide to stop buying eggs. This didn't work because everyone needed eggs.

Finally, the man suggested only buying what you need. He ate 2 eggs a day. On the way home from work he would stop at the grocery and buy two eggs. Everyone in town started buying 2 or 3 eggs a day.

The mini-market owner began complaining that he had too many eggs in his cooler. He told the distributor that he didn't need any eggs.

Maybe wouldn't need any all week. The distributor had eggs piling up at his warehouse. He told the huge egg farms that he didn't have any room for eggs would not need any for at least two weeks.

At the egg farm, the chickens just kept on laying eggs. To relieve the pressure, the huge egg farm told the distributor that they could buy the eggs at a lower price.

The distributor said, " I don't have the room for the eggs even if they were free".

The distributor told the mini-market owner that he would lower the price of the eggs if the store would start buying again.

The mini-market owner said, "I don't have room for more eggs. The customers are only buying 2 or 3 eggs at a time".

"Now if you were to drop the price of eggs back down to the original price, the customers would start buying by the dozen again".

The distributors sent that proposal to the huge egg farmers. They liked the price they were getting for their eggs but, those chickens just kept on laying.

Finally, the egg farmers lowered the price of their eggs. But only by a few cents.

The customers still bought 2 or 3 eggs at a time. They said, "When the price of eggs gets down to where it was before, we will start buying by the dozen."

Slowly the price of eggs started dropping. The distributors had to slash their prices to make room for the eggs coming from the egg farmers.

The egg farmers cut their prices because the distributors wouldn't buy at a higher price than they were selling eggs for.

Anyway, they had full warehouses and wouldn't need eggs for quite a while. And those chickens kept on laying.

Eventually, the egg farmers cut their prices because they were throwing away eggs they couldn't sell.

The distributors started buying again because the eggs were priced to where the stores could afford to sell them at the lower price. And the customers starting buying by the dozen again.

Now, transpose this analogy to the gasoline industry. What if everyone only bought RM10.00 worth of gas each time they pulled to the pump? The dealer's tanks would stay semi full all the time. The dealers wouldn't have room for the gas coming from the huge tank farms. The tank farms wouldn't have room for the gas coming from the refining plants. And the refining plants wouldn't have room for the oil being off loaded from the huge tankers coming from the Middle East.

Just RM10.00 each time you buy gas. Don't fill it up. First of all, scholarships are meant to be given BASED ON MERIT. Earlier in May this year, another superman, the Parliamentery Affairs Minister, Nazri Abdul Aziz, said that scholarship quotas for Non-Bumiputeras are to increase. Both stories just don't make sense!

My view is that if scholarships are to be given based on merit, then complains that 'Malay Students' (as defined by The Star newspaper) are getting less shouldn't exist at all. Second, how on earth is it that bumiputeras and non-bumiputeras get segregated AT ALL? Why the need to divide? OI, KITA SAMA SAMA MALAYSIANS! Wei, superman Nazri Abdul Aziz, you and I are both Malaysians, so why must I be labelled non-bumi while you are bumi? I was born and bred in Malaysia, Johor some more where UMNO won the state in the recent elections.

Likewise, how do we, the public, know that students who get scholarships are judged based on their exam results? I've heard of 'pelajar cemerlang' 10A SPM students wanting to do Engineering or Medicine, but getting scholarships to do Forrestry or Fishery Services. Perhaps a student who was dropped out of the quota? Or is it a deliberate attempt to meet the quota but give the lousiest choice of scholarships so that this pelajar cemerlang will enrol himself into Taylor's/Sunway/Inti/Metropolitan/Sedaya College. Comon Malaysia, there must be change. You're not kidding this generation of children. 2012 elections is just a few years away and by then the people whom you've shunned will have aged to 'votable' age....

I have three suggestions:

1. Get rid of the bumi/non-bumi statements. Segregation is the road to revolution.
2. Base scholarships on MERIT.
3. Publicize the scholarship handouts through significant medias without prejudice.
4. Oh, since Ahmad Ikmal Ismail is the 'chairman' of the PSD group, then get rid of the chairman, his board members, and re-elect a balance of 40% non-bumi and 60% bumiputeras in the board. And put a Malaysian Chinese as the Chairman. Lets see how things are by then. ( I suspect this may happen in 2013 though...)

For those of you are have reached this part of the blog, I am attaching the article from The Star:

Malay students affected

PETALING JAYA: Increasing the quota for non-bumiputras for Public Service Department (PSD) scholarships without increasing the actual number of scholarships has drastically affected the bumiputras, the Umno Youth Education Bureau said.

Its chairman Ahmad Ikmal Ismail said while the bureau agreed with the Government to give more scholarships to non-bumiputras, it did not agree with the way it was done.

“The quota for non-bumiputras has increased from 10% to 45% but the number of total scholarships has remained at 2,000.”

Ahmad Ikmal said this meant that scholarships were being taken from the bumiputras to be given to the non-bumiputras.

“We object to this move because it now means that 700 scholarships for bumiputra students are gone,” he said.

Ahmad Ikmal said a better way would be to use the New Economic Policy concept to increase the number of total scholarships. He said this was to ensure that the bumiputras were not affected and the non-bumiputras would get even more opportunities.

Grand Saga Highway Cheat!!

Here's a way for people to escape the Grand Saga Highway blocked road, as depictred through David Chan in his blogsite. If you've been following the news of the general elections in Malaysia, you'll know by now that Barisan Nasional has lost five states to the Opposition party (Penang, Selangor, Kelantan, Kedah and Perak) which is a massive blow. In addition, many many political dramas has sprung up due to this, and all I can say is that its a very big change for the Malaysian political scene.

Anwar Ibrahim and his Justice Party is just a weeks to being back in Parliament.
Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah is a month away from getting himself running for the post of PM.
Existing PM Abdullah Badawi is close to being fired from his post.

So many stories to tell, but too little time. Check out the dramas from www.malaysiakini.com and www.malaysia-today.net. Both are web based news that favour the opposition ruling party, but news is news.

Happy Chinese New Year 2008!

Hi there!

Here's wishing you a Happy chinese new year for 2008.
